Louis Berger Services is currently looking for qualified Diesel Mechanics/Power Plant Operators on multiple sites within CENTCOM countries located in the Middle East (Iraq, Kuwait, and the UAE) in support of LOGCAP 5.
o Reports to and receives direction from the Power Generation Supervisor or Power Plant Manager. Performs preventive maintenance services and repairs on 6-KW to 1000-KW generators. Duties involve the installation and removal operation of generators from static locations to the power generation shops; to perform troubleshooting; and rebuilds engines; alternate current (AC) systems; direct current (DC) systems; the electronic control systems; and other program logic controls; electrical wiring and peripheral accessories control consoles; supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems; bulk fuel storage supply systems; and 11 kV electric distribution system. The Power Generation Lead will be responsible for maintaining all types of power generation equipment; to include FG Wilson, Caterpillar, Volvo, Cummins, SDMO, AKSA, MEPs and other military (green) design generators. Rebuilds and repair gas compressors (turbochargers) used for forced induction of generator engines, head gaskets, seals, water pumps, fuel pumps, torque heads, belts and hoses. Also test batteries; check fuel coolant, and oil; process and ship oil samples for analysis. Perform installation of specified new or reconditioned repair and service parts; and make required adjustments and reassembly of the complete unit. Responsible to transports and properly dispose HAZ-MAT and HAZ-WASTE materials to authorized HAZMAT collection point. Daily, moves materials and equipment to work locations and perform, as required. Maintains service records, tools and equipment accountability, and performs various clean-up and housekeeping activities. Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures; including wearing (all) required personal safety equipment. Teamwork driven and actively participate to continuous process improvement in Quality. Periodic travel may be required for work on projects at other locations in Kuwait and in the Middle East.
o Responsible to oversee Work Instructions are followed; provide guidance, and assistance to Generator Mechanics.
o Perform preventative and predictive maintenance activities on engine-driven emergency power generation systems
o Performs root cause analysis on repetitive and catastrophic engine-driven emergency power generation system failures.
o Reviews new construction and equipment upgrade documents and drawings to provide Project Management technical expertise in support of Engineering Services and for continuous configuration management.
o Fluent in English – Verbal, Reading, and Writing skills and familiar with MS Office Products (Word, Excel, PPT, and Outlook).
o Must have oral and written communication skills sufficient to produce employee evaluations and written reports for upper management and to brief upper management on project status.
o Minimum 7 years’ experience working on civilian and or military style generators in the Middle East preferred.
o Possess knowledge of ability to read and understand schematics, and technical drawings.
o Possess a valid passport with at least 6 months until expiration and 5 blank pages
o Possess current/ valid home country driver’s license
Additional qualifications preferred:
o Prior Military (91D) and or LOGCAP 3 or LOGCAP 4 experience in Generator Department.
o FG Willison Technician certification.
o Cummins Technician certification.
o Caterpillar Technician certification.
o Completed 40-hour HAZWOPER – OSHA Certification
o Must possess current training and able to demonstrate general knowledge of industrial safety and environmental regulations, including compliance with OSHA and NFPA70E requirements, personal protective equipment use and lock out tag out procedures for electrical, mechanical and fluid systems and controls.
o Duties will involve work in the outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions including frequent dust storms, and high temperatures up to 130F degrees in the summer months.
o Must be able to work overhead with arms raised for extended periods.
