- Responsible for selling and dispensing drugs according to prescriptions of physicians, while also consulting customers about appropriate over the counter medications, consumer healthcare, and skincare products for common ailments. Also responsible for instructing patients on how and when to take a prescribed medicine and inform them about side effects they may experience from taking the medication.
- Implement the pharmacies established policies and procedures and comply with the company’s policies.
- Greet customers warmly and assist them with their orders in a friendly and professional manner.
- Provide product information, recommendations, and assistance as needed to enhance the customer experience.
- Verify the identity of customers to ensure that they match prescriptions.
- Review prescriptions from doctors to ensure accuracy, to ascertain the needed medicines, and ask all the relevant questions to evaluate their suitability for the patient.
- Check for potentially dangerous drug interactions when patients are taking multiple medications and advise them of ways of avoiding potential harm.
- Provide information and advice about drugs, their side effects, correct dosage and proper storage.
- Keep records such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, and narcotics or controlled drugs in compliance with MOH regulations.
- Plan, implement and maintain procedures for packaging and labelling pharmaceuticals according to policy and legal requirements to ensure quality, security and proper disposal.
- Order and purchase pharmaceutical supplies, medical supplies, drugs and other retail products, as required and in line with the company’s policies and procedures.
- Direct the laborer in maintaining, handling and storing stock properly, in line with the company’s policies and procedures.
- Ensure all stocks maintained at the pharmacy are within the acceptable expiry dates and returned before expiring in store.
- Analyze prescribing trends to monitor patient compliance and to prevent excessive or illicit use.
- Adhere to all health and commercial regulations pertaining to the practice of pharmacy in the state of Kuwait.
- Advise customers on the selection of medication brands, medical equipment or healthcare supplies that may best suit their needs.
- Provide pharmacological, cosmeceutical and nutritional supplement information by answering questions of customers and counseling patients.
- Adhere to WHO & MOH guidelines in anti-microbial stewardship to prevent antimicrobial overuse and reduce cases of antimicrobial resistance.
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with relevant procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Maintain pharmacological knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
- Perform ad-hoc and other duties related to the job as assigned by direct manager.
