The Subspecialized Nurse in Subspecialized areas (OT, GIT, Anesthesia, Cardiac Cath, IVF) is responsible for managing individualized patient care in OT, GIT, Anesthesia, Cardiac Cath and IVF by promoting and restoring patients’ health through the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing physical and psychological support to patients, significant others, and families; and supervising assigned team members.1. Assess the health care needs of patients. Is responsible for formulating, implementing, and evaluating a plan of care, in partnership with the patient.1.1. Systematically assess the patient, analyse data, and identify the patient’s nursing needs.1.2. Applying knowledge and skills, develop and document a care plan that reflects the patient's identified needs.1.3. Implement the plan of care by providing direct care to patients.1.4. Evaluate and validate the effectiveness of nursing strategies toward meeting expected patient outcomes.1.5. Involve the patient and carers in the plan of care.1.6. Recognize changes in the patient’s condition, take necessary action, and document variations in the plan of care.1.7. Accept accountability for your actions and seeks guidance when a situation exceeds experience and/or knowledge.1.8. Coordinate an effective discharge from the hospital that reflects the patient’s and carers’ needs.1.9. Develop, implement, and evaluate teaching plans for patients and carers that meet their learning needs and facilitate informed decision-making.1.10. Document the nursing process to reflect a comprehensive and integrated approach to patient care.2. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all disciplines.2.1. Assist patient or client and their families, to become aware of issues relevant to their healthcare needs and provides information on resources and services within the healthcare system.7.4. Recognize trends in health care needs within patient or client groups served and involve the patient or client in planning mutually expected outcomes where possible and appropriate.7.5. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of legislation dealing with patients’ or clients’ rights and responsibilities in health care.7.6. Demonstrate knowledge of other nurses' and health care professionals' roles, responsibilities, and rights.8. General Accountabilities8.1. Provide junior staff, orientee, and trainees working in the unit with appropriate supervision, training, and instruction in accordance with hospital policies.8.2. Protect confidential information from unauthorized disclosure and not use, disclose, or copy confidential information except for the purpose of and to the extent necessary to perform your employment duties.8.5. Maintains current competency in the nursing specialty by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.8.7. Evaluate own performance and that of peers and other nursing staff in relation to standards.8.8. Demonstrate an awareness of elements in your performance needing further development and seek opportunities to improve.8.9. Contribute to positive team functioning and supporting one another.8.10. Develop cultural competence in order to provide culturally competent care.8.11.   • Organizes and prioritizes own workload to ensure the provision of quality service.
  • JCI, Infection Control & P&P.
  • Demonstrated ability in providing primary and specialty care services.
  • Complete Unit-Specific Competency in a successful manner to develop areas for improvement.
