Purpose and Scope of the JobPerforms a variety of venipuncture techniques and collecting specimens from patients, on-site or from home visitsMain Duties and Responsibilities/Performance Standards1Venipuncture and blood collection2Provides appropriate containers for non-blood samples (as urine, stool, semen) to the clients3Conforms to laboratory's policies and procedures for collection and handling of specimens, including proper patient identification, labeling, matching requested with invoiced tests, safety and waste disposal, in addition to infection control measures4Immediately transfers collected samples to data-entry desk5Answers inquiries related to test requisitions,sample types and volumes and patient preparation requirements6Secures respective consents from patient, whenever required7Participates in sample collection from home8Organizes phlebotomy rooms and organization and refilling of phlebotomy table9Responsible to provide patient and family-centered care.10Ensures quality and patient safety practices are followed.11Promotes inclusive health by providing equitable and accessible care to patients and families with special needs.Qualifications, Competences and SkillsEducationNursing DiplomaTraining:1Training on updated venipuncture standards and techniques.2Training on relatedaccreditation standards.3Communication skills training4Training on safety and infection control requirementsExperience2+ years of recent experienceLicensureApplicableLanguageProficiency in English/Arabic Languages.Computer ProficiencyBasic computer skills (Preferred)Performance Competencies1Mastering different phlebotomyprocedures among different age groups and on different phlebotomy sites (antecubital, dorsum of hand, heal, etc...)2Perfect knowledge of different test pre-requisites as regards sample types, volumes, and patient preparation3Should havepleasing and convincingmanners tocomfort patients4Competency regarding implementing aseptic techniques, sharp containment, safety and infection control measuresTraining1Training on safety and infection control procedures2Certification in BLS3Training in fire drills.4Training on biological spillPrinciple Working Relationships and Remarks1Phlebotomists2laboratory data-entry clerks3Laboratory receptionists4Laboratory technologists5Laboratory supervisor6Laboratory Quality officer and Safety officer7Laboratory Consultants /Registrars8Head of Laboratory9Clinical Ancillary Service Manager
